Get to Know Dr. Zachary Sherman

I came to appreciate the world of sleep medicine because of the range of backgrounds from which people come. I get to collaborate with dentists, neurologists, psychiatrists, and otolaryngologists. I love sleep medicine because of how greatly I can impact someone’s quality of life and improve their daytime function, while helping prevent serious chronic disease.

I provide evidence-based treatments for a range of sleep conditions, including sleep apnea, restless leg syndrome, narcolepsy, and insomnia. My responsibilities include diagnosing patients, reading sleep studies, and managing medications and medical devices. I am also responsible for supervising some of our lovely team of NPs and PAs.

I graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY with a double major in Biology and German Studies. I attended medical school at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine, graduating in 2020. After completing a residency in internal medicine in Columbus, MS, I returned to UT for my sleep medicine fellowship, where I was awarded the chief fellow award for pediatric sleep medicine. I am currently double-board certified in internal medicine and sleep medicine.

I enjoy spending time with my lovely fiance, going on road trips, camping, hiking up mountains, exploring national and state parks, and visiting new places. I enjoy playing the drums and watching Formula 1. I also make a mean shakshuka.
